Is Ante Social finished? Will I hit bugs?

We are early. The app is under active development, so features can change and bugs can happen. If something breaks or feels wrong, please tell us with the feedback form in the app (Feedback in the footer, or antesocial.space/feedback); it helps us prioritize fixes. Export your data regularly if your work is important to you.

How is this free forever? What's the catch?

Ante Social is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with all data stored locally on your device. This means we have minimal server costs—no databases to maintain, no data storage fees. The app works entirely offline after initial setup. We may offer optional paid features (like cloud backup) in the future, but core functionality will always be free. No ads, no data selling, no hidden fees.

How do I install it?

On iPhone or iPad: in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen." On Android: in Chrome, open the menu and choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen." On a computer: in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon in the address bar; in Safari on Mac, choose File > Add to Dock. Desktop Firefox has no install button, so use Ante Social in a normal Firefox tab; it still works offline. Once installed, it opens in its own window and works offline.

What browsers and devices are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. Installing it as an app needs Chrome, Edge or Safari (or Firefox on Android). In desktop Firefox it runs in a regular tab with the same offline storage.

What happens to my data if I lose my device?

All data is stored locally on your device. If you lose access to your device, your data is lost unless you've exported it. We strongly recommend regular exports (JSON format for complete backup). You can export from Settings at any time.

Is there a storage limit?

Accepted Answer

Storage depends on your device and browser. Each content pack is between about 7 KB and 150 KB; all 20 together are about 1.1 MB. Journal entries and writing projects are plain text and take little space.

Can I export my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Export your journal as JSON (all data), PDF (formatted), or Markdown (portable text). Export writing projects individually or all at once. Full backup exports include all your data with metadata. All exports are instant and work offline.

Do you offer cloud sync or backup?

Not yet. All data is stored locally on your device, which keeps your writing private and available offline. We are considering an optional paid cloud backup in the future; it would be opt-in. The core offline experience will remain free.
